Santa Fe County Fire Department’s Southern Regional Headquarters is the twin of the Western Headquarters with a similar floor plan, however with its location near in Edgewood, it has a very different aesthetic. The pitched roofs of the station echo the land formations of the nearby mountain ranges and help shed increased snow load.

Key to fire station design is response time and access control.  At Edgewood, a single entry controls the entire station but the Community Room can be used separately.  A central hallway links all spaces, and minimizes the distance to the apparatus bay.

The station utilizes green materials and energy-conserving techniques.
